Feet change. Liners degrade. That’s why it’s important to try on your boots ahead of winter to make sure you’re set for the start of the season. Because let’s face it: there’s nothing worse than slipping on your boots for your first run and feeling abnormal foot pain or discomfort.
To make the most of your time on the mountain, here are three tips to make sure you’ve got the right fit:
1. Try on the socks you’ll wear for skiing with your boots.
Your dress socks aren’t going to do you any favours here. Nor are thick fuzzy socks that you wear around the house. Make sure you invest in a sock designed for skiing — meaning it has moisture-wicking fabric and insulation technology. Believe us when we say that socks can make or break your boot fit, not to mention your mountain run.
2. Do up your boots as you would to hit the slopes and check for damage.
Any damage on the buckles, soles, straps or liners might mean you need to hit up a boot shop for repairs. We’re available for anything you need!
3. Flex your boots back and forth a few times to ensure your heel is firmly locked in and you still have space for your toes.
Secure and comfortable? You’re ready to hit the mountain.
Bonus tip for kids’ boots: Pull the foot bed out and have them stand on it to assess the fit.
It should fit a little smaller than their shoes.
